PVC Flooring FAQ

The questions buyers, facilities managers and installers ask most — answered plainly.

Which lasts longer: homogeneous or heterogeneous vinyl?

Homogeneous vinyl lasts 25+ years because colour runs through the full thickness. Heterogeneous lasts 10–15 years as the wear layer is a thin top coat. Over 25 years, homogeneous usually has the lower lifecycle cost.

Is SPC flooring really waterproof?

Yes. The stone-plastic rigid core is 100% waterproof, making SPC suitable for bathrooms, kitchens and laundry areas — unlike standard dry-back LVT which is only water-resistant.

What ESD resistance do I need?

Conductive 10⁴–10⁶ Ω (EN 1081) for electronics production and explosive zones; dissipative 10⁶–10⁹ Ω for server rooms, labs and healthcare ESD zones. Both require conductive adhesive + copper grid + earth.

Can vinyl flooring be installed over tiles?

Sheet vinyl needs a smooth, flat substrate; tile grout lines should be filled with self-levelling compound first. SPC click-lock tolerates minor imperfections and can float over many existing floors.

What fire and air-quality standards apply?

Commercial vinyl is typically EN 13501-1 Bfl-s1 (fire) and FloorScore / low-VOC (indoor air). Phthalate-free formulation is expected for EU and North-American distribution.

How is the floor kept hygienic?

Heat-welded seams plus a cove former at the wall create a seamless, monolithic surface with no dirt traps — the reason homogeneous vinyl is the healthcare and cleanroom standard. Daily dry mop + damp mop suffices.

What is homogeneous vinyl flooring?

Homogeneous vinyl is a single-layer PVC sheet where colour and pattern run through the full thickness, making it durable for hospitals, schools and heavy-traffic commercial areas (EN ISO 10581).

What is SPC flooring?

SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) is a rigid-core vinyl plank with a dense waterproof limestone-PVC core, printed design layer and clear wear layer (EN 16511) — suited to wet areas and tropical climates.

What is ESD flooring?

ESD flooring safely drains static to earth through conductive or static-dissipative vinyl (IEC 61340-5-1, EN 1081), protecting electronics in server rooms, labs and production lines.

Report-backed values are third-party tested (Intertek, SGS) and published on our Test Reports page. Other classifications are product-performance data supported by in-house laboratory testing and are available on request.

Four details get you a quoted price

  • Specification — product line, thickness, roll or plank size, colour reference
  • Quantity — total square metres, and whether it ships in one lot or in phases
  • Destination — port or city, so we can quote FOB or CIF
  • Delivery window — the date the material has to be on site

Send these four by email or WhatsApp and we reply with a technical data sheet and a firm price. With fewer details we can only quote a range.
