This calculator uses typical industry consumption rates. Actual quantities vary with product, room shape, substrate and waste factor. For a firm quotation, contact our team with your project drawings.

System notes

Sheet vinyl

Roll 2 m × 20 m = 40 m². Full-spread adhesive ~0.30 kg/m². Welding rod ~1.2 m/m².

ESD system

Requires conductive adhesive + copper-strip grid + earth. Resistance 10⁴–10⁶ Ω (conductive) or 10⁶–10⁹ Ω (dissipative) per EN 1081.

Skirting & cove

Cove former gives a seamless floor-to-wall seal — mandatory in healthcare and cleanrooms. Length follows room perimeter.

Compliance: RoHS (EU) 2015/863 · REACH · quality management system aligned with ISO 9001 requirements.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the floor area — the total area you are covering, in square metres. If you only know one room's length and width, enter those instead — they are also used for the skirting length.
  2. Set the wastage allowance — 5% is pre-filled. Diagonal layouts, rooms of different widths or pattern matching need more (see the table below).
  3. Read the material list — flooring rolls, adhesive buckets and welding rod rolls are rounded up to whole packing units, because that is what you actually order.
  4. Check the skirting line — the room perimeter appears when length and width are entered, so skirting and cove can be sized in the same run.

Wastage allowance: how much to add

Wastage covers cutting loss, room shape and the material held back for later repairs. It is the input that moves the estimate most, so set it deliberately rather than accepting the default.

LayoutSuggested allowanceWhy
Rectangular rooms, laid in one direction5%Roll width is used almost fully; few offcuts
Rooms of different widths7–10%Each width change produces its own offcut
Diagonal or herringbone layout10%Angled cuts at both ends of every row
Pattern matching across seams10% or moreAligning the pattern consumes extra length

These are typical industry averages for commercial installations rather than product-specific figures. Adhesive consumption moves with substrate porosity and trowel notch, and welding rod depends on total seam length — which is longer in small rooms with many seams.

What the estimate does not cover

  • Substrate preparation — smoothing compound, primer and moisture testing are quoted separately.
  • Trims and transitions — stair nosings, reducers and door bars follow the detail drawings, not the floor area.
  • ESD accessories — a conductive system adds copper strip, conductive adhesive and earthing points, and quantities follow the grid layout.
  • Installation labour and access equipment.
  • Colour split — the estimate is a project total. Our standard MOQ is counted per colour, so split the result by colour before ordering.

Frequently asked questions

Is this flooring calculator free to use?

Yes. The calculator is free, needs no registration and no email address, and the estimate is produced in your browser — nothing is submitted.

Why are the results rounded up?

Because material is ordered in whole packing units: sheet vinyl in 40 m² rolls, adhesive in 25 kg buckets, welding rod in 100 m rolls. Each line is rounded up to the next whole unit so the estimate matches what you can order.

How accurate is the estimate?

It is a planning figure based on typical consumption rates, not a quotation. Waste factor, substrate porosity and seam count move it by roughly ±10%. Send project drawings for a firm bill of materials.

Does it work for SPC and ESD flooring?

The flooring, adhesive and welding rod lines apply to sheet products. SPC rigid core is supplied in planks with a different pack size, and an ESD system adds copper strip and conductive adhesive — both fall outside this estimate.

What waste allowance should I enter?

5% for simple rectangular rooms laid in one direction, 7–10% when several room widths are involved, and 10% or more for diagonal layouts or pattern matching.

Is the minimum order quantity applied to the total or per colour?

Our standard MOQ is 500 m² per colour. The calculator totals the whole project, so split the result by colour before checking it against MOQ.

Four details get you a quoted price

  • Specification — product line, thickness, roll or plank size, colour reference
  • Quantity — total square metres, and whether it ships in one lot or in phases
  • Destination — port or city, so we can quote FOB or CIF
  • Delivery window — the date the material has to be on site

Send these four by email or WhatsApp and we reply with a technical data sheet and a firm price. With fewer details we can only quote a range.
