FAQ

Why does ESD flooring need conductive adhesive?

The adhesive conducts charge from the vinyl surface down to the copper tape and building earth — a standard adhesive would break the path.

How is conductivity tested?

The adhesive's own resistance is a material property: tested to JC/T 550-2019 (antistatic grade) with a requirement of ≤ 3 × 10⁵ Ω. Resistance measured on a finished floor is a system value - determined by the sheet, the adhesive, the earthing network, the substrate and the measurement method - and must be agreed in writing against the project specification before installation.

What coverage per pail?

A 20 L (20 kg) pail covers roughly 80-90 m² at a consumption of 220 - 250 g/m².

Does the resistance depend on how the adhesive is applied?

Yes - the film has to stay continuous. The adhesive conducts through overlapping conductive fibres; a roller picks those fibres up and pushes them towards the edge of the work area, so the network breaks up and local high-resistance points appear. A notched trowel lays an even film across the whole area and keeps the designed thickness once the ribs collapse. Curing problems can be corrected afterwards - fibre loss cannot.

Can you guarantee the resistance of the installed floor?

No - and no single material can, which is why we do not publish a finished-floor figure. Resistance on a completed floor is a system value: it depends on the sheet, the adhesive, the earthing network, the substrate and the measurement method. What we do instead is agree the acceptance limit, the test method and the measuring conditions with you in writing before installation. The relevant documents are IEC 61340-4-1 (test method for the resistive properties of floors) and IEC 61340-5-1 (system requirements - the floor of an ESD-protected area is specified below 1 x 10^9 ohm).

Four details get you a quoted price

  • Specification — product line, thickness, roll or plank size, colour reference
  • Quantity — total square metres, and whether it ships in one lot or in phases
  • Destination — port or city, so we can quote FOB or CIF
  • Delivery window — the date the material has to be on site

Send these four by email or WhatsApp and we reply with a technical data sheet and a firm price. With fewer details we can only quote a range.
