PVC capping strip (also called vinyl capping) is used to finish the top of a resilient floorcovering where it has been coved up the wall. Works in conjunction with a PVC cove former to create a complete cap and cove detail — a clean, sealed, professional transition between floor and wall surfaces.

Made from high-grade soft PVC, the strip provides excellent flexibility without compromising strength. Easy to install along curved walls and corners, offering a tight and secure fit. Ideal for hospitals, schools, cleanrooms, and food preparation areas.

PVC Coving System Installation Cross-Section — SK35 Capping Strip, E20 Cove Former & PVC Roll Floor Sheet

1. Surface Preparation

Wall surfaces must be sound, smooth, dry, and free from contaminants. Remove old coverings, linings, adhesive residues, paint films, and mold.

2. Mark Position

Mark the position of the top of the capping seal on the wall using a chalk line. Ensure the line is level along the entire run.

3. Apply Adhesive

Apply acrylic contact adhesive to both the wall and the back of the capping strip. Allow the adhesive to become touch dry before positioning.

4. Fix & Finish

Bring both surfaces together and apply even pressure. Remove air bubbles. Internal corners: miter cut. External corners: miter cut or wrap around.

FAQ

What is the difference between a cove former and a capping strip?

The cove former rounds the floor-to-wall junction; the capping strip closes the top edge where that upstand meets the wall. The two are specified together to finish the same detail.

Do you supply cove formers and capping strips as one set?

They are quoted together when they close the same junction. Send the cove former reference you are using (for example E15 or E38) and we confirm the matching cap before the order is placed.

What HS code applies to PVC capping strips?

Classification for capping strips depends on the destination country and is stated on the commercial invoice and packing list of each shipment. Tell us the destination and we confirm the code we apply before you book freight.

Which adhesive is used to fix a capping strip?

Acrylic contact adhesive, applied to both the wall and the back of the strip, allowed to become touch dry, then brought together - the method described in the installation steps above.
